As of the summer of 2010, the marble was still there. I’ve always been tempted to cut a slice of the concrete out and keeping it. I’d ask the current owner and replace it with new concrete. My mother thinks it should stand until it doesn’t. Then I’d just let nature or demolition take care of it. I think I’ll visit it annually and photograph it as well..
The marble reminds me of the view of earth from space, the swirl of water and clouds in the atmosphere. This block holds the base of the fence’s post for the gate entering the back yard.
