When I first started my photography journey the summer of 1987, I had tremendous respect for the negative. I did my best to store them in the right place. My family on the other hand never cared about the negatives once the photos were printed out at the Photomat around the corner and now we have decaying photographs and lost information.

I had talked about getting a negative scanner since the early 2000s and just kept putting it off because there seemed to be more pressing and innumerable purchases (Erica would agree). However, I just bought a new scanner and I’m excited. I have so many groups of negatives stored in boxes and will get the kids to digitized them as a family project.
