In 2003, I had only been a father for a couple of years. I spent all my time with my son, not just keeping an eye on him, but fully engaged and enjoying the experience. I was able to see myself and my wife, in him.

I think I did these rather quickly, inspired by our walks throughout the city. We walked in the alleyways of our neighborhood and places like the Mall, U Street, and beyond. When we’d travel back to Pittsburgh, it was the same thing. I took him downtown and walked through my old neighborhood. We were inseparable and our walks were important to me.

The pieces are colored-pencil and acrylic pain on a heavy-duty acid free paper. They are also placed in a custom and hand panted mattes and special order, finished frames. I used to work at a frame shop, so I used to do it up when I could.
