Back in the U Street rebirth era, Komplex was the Brooklyn born, Baltimore raised and DC frequented spoken word artist that always had a buzz around him. He had a mastery of language like few others and a stage presence like a true emcee from the Golden Era of Hip-Hop.

I’m not sure he if does spoken word anymore. I hadn’t seen or heard anything from Kirk Bernard (his government name) in a long while. We all have our reasons to pull away and see another part of our purpose. Nevertheless, he was one of the first people to come by my studio on Illinois Avenue and do something for my yet to be establish eclectic-docuseries, The Angle, and for that I am grateful. I had one of his poetry CDs and when I heard this joint, it gave me chills.

Below is another awesome spoken-word piece he did when he visited: Wildflower
