Shelving is life. Wherever I call home or “office”, must have plenty of shelves. One could say, it’s because I have so many things. It’s a little of that, but it’s also a way for me to easily see and have access to all the things that I make or that make me, Gemal. This shelf at this point in my life I’d call an awards shelf, at the studio on Illinois Avenue, NW.

I see several awards, my automatic camera from 1991, my first digital camera (1999), my old MJ stone (1984) and other trinkets. This shelf sits above workstation number #2. That is my “casual workstation” that I tend to gravitate towards when I wanna easily see outside the large window in the front, daydream between keystrokes and take my time on a project.
