Cecily paid us a visit at our office in Penn Quarter. We in turn explored Penn Quarter with our cameras, Angle style. Cecily is a young vocalist and songwriter whose sweet soprano and honest lyrics have garnered attention and loyal fans not only in her native Washington DC, but also up and down the East Coast. Unmoved by passing trends, Cecily’s sound is rooted in a deep appreciation for mid-century soul and jazz, 90’s R&B, and re-imagined folk music. She describes her style as Acoustic Pop Soul, and has drawn comparisons to artists as distinct as Deniece Williams, Brandy, and Corinne Bailey-Rae. http://cecilymusic.com/
Penn Quarter is a revitalized historic neighborhood in downtown Washington, DC. The name “Penn Quarter” is relatively new and not so widely known. The area may also be called Old Downtown by some, although most people refer to the neighborhood as “near the Verizon Center”. Over the past two decades, Penn Quarter has become an arts and entertainment district with many restaurants, hotels, nightclubs, art galleries, theaters and trendy stores.
